Safety Integrity Level

Safety Integrity Level (SIL) of is a statistical representation of the reliability of the Electrical / Electronic / Programmable Electronic System to perform a safety function. The SIL assessment is done in two steps, (1) SIL determination and (2) SIL verification. The SIL determination is carried out to estimate the risk reduction required from the safety instrumented functions (SIFs) or the instrumented protection functions (IPFs) so that they provide adequate protection layers to control the risk to the desired level. The SIL determination can be a combined with other PHA studies like HAZOP and LOPA analysis. The SIL verification is used to verify the reliability and test requirements for the input, logic and output components of the safety instrumented function.
We perform studies in accordance with IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and ANSI/ISA S84.01.
