Spotlight: Mechanical Integrity
The goal of Mechanical Integrity program is to prevent accidents through the proper inspection and maintenance of fixed and rotating equipment and associated assets. In practice, whether or not this is the case depends largely on the actual quality of the risk analysis and the thoroughness of the written procedures, inspections and monitoring employed; which can obscure the objective measurement of impact. And as with any root cause, failure focused analysis, it tends only to pick up the higher frequency, known historical behaviors and can miss the low frequency, high consequence events that can really threaten company liability as well as lives. Studies on past accidents in the petrochemical industry have revealed that incidents which resulted in large property damage losses were most often caused by mechanical failure in the process equipment.
Our aim is primarily to get better value for money from inspection and maintenance activities for your facility. As a subset of Asset Integrity Management program, Mechanical Integrity is equipment specific and more tactical in nature. We partner with you to establish procedures as well as implement them for baseline campaign and to maintain the on-going integrity of process equipment, system integration, operation, inspection and maintenance activities.
